Texas Rich by Fern Michaels

Set in Austin, Texas, this family saga features the naïve Billy Ames, who falls in love with WWII Navy pilot Moss Coleman, heir to a Texas ranching fortune. When Moss sends a pregnant Billy and her manipulative mother to his home in Texas, his strong-willed father takes an instant dislike to Billy, forcing her to develop some Texas grit. Laural Merlington takes the personalities of Michaels's work and gives them strong voices, which mature as the characters do.
